At the VU Faculty of Medicine, medical students are trained to be deeply rooted in society and interested in the person behind the patient. They are looking for students who dare to look beyond the obvious and are eager to keep up with new developments. 

In addition to clinical knowledge, students must also acquire academic skills, and they always conclude this phase with a creative assignment.

This year's assignment was to educate patients about vitiligo through videos, brochures, or other means. This way, students immediately learn what vitiligo is (and its impact on quality of life).

Paul Monteiro, chairman of vitiligo.nl, was invited by psychodermatologist Patrick Kemperman to judge the nominees' submissions and to honor the winner during the closing lecture.
