Spotlight! No. 2 (June 2026)

The new Spotlight! appears!

A month ago, Nicoline van Buchem-Post obtained her PhD; she is a dermatology resident and researcher in Amsterdam. In the new issue of Spotlight!, In the study published this week, she discusses in detail an important sub-study in her dissertation: the various treatment methods for vitiligo, including the use of laser. Customization is essential in this regard!

The June issue also contains a new section: OOG in OOG. Maaike (41) kicks things off. She has had vitiligo for about 15 years and says that she regularly goes glow golfing. “I like to use the black light to see how the spots are doing.”

Also new is our columnist Joost van Mier (36) from Tilburg. Although he finds his vitiligo annoying and still regularly looks with jealousy at passers-by with beautiful, even skin, he also often thinks of a passage from a book by Barack Obama. The former US president wrote: 'People are often much less concerned with you than you think.' That gives him a lot of support.

Meanwhile in Belgium: a project has been launched at Ghent University Hospital to map the disease activity of vitiligo as accurately as possible. In other words: how do you recognize the changes? Not every scientist interprets the pace of moving vitiligo in the same way. The ACTIVE project aims to lead to a uniform approach.

This and more in the new June issue!
