Vaccination Covid-19
The following questions currently arise in various vitiligo patients
the vaccination against the Covid-19 virus:
I have a pressing question regarding the vaccine.
What is the advice to do with vitiligo? Vaccination or no vaccination?
Are you at greater risk of serious side effects?
The board has submitted these questions to the medical specialists.
Here is the response from the SNIP (Section of the Netherlands Institute for Pigment Disorders).
The honest answer is that no one really knows what to expect, but that the vaccine has been approved by the EMA and FDA and that to my knowledge no specific restrictions have been mentioned for people with autoimmune conditions or the immune compromised.
So no reason to give specific advice!
The Dutch Association of Dermatology and Venereology has appointed a working group to look at vaccination in people with immune disorders or medication that affects the immune system.
The fear, however, is that this will largely become a must after the meal.
If it concerns an otherwise healthy person, I expect that there will be no rapid vaccination anyway (no risk group), but we now see no contraindications for people with vitiligo.
