Wiek was about 42 years old when he discovered the first white spots on his arms. “I have quite dark skin myself. Once I was working in the garden and suddenly my arms started to itch. In the evening those places were red and very badly burned. A year later, those red spots on both my arms had turned white.” Now, 22 years later, Wiek has the spots spread all over his body.
