LVVP is now Vitiligo.nl
Since February 10, 2017, the LVVP has had a new name: Vitiligo.nl, complete with a new, fresh logo. This allows the association to profile itself in a contemporary manner as a modern interest group for people with vitiligo.
The board found the old name, National Association for Vitiligo Patients, not only awkwardly long, but also outdated. Especially because many people with vitiligo do not see themselves as patients. That term has therefore been deleted from the name. In addition, the word 'national' has been replaced by .nl, which is completely in keeping with the current age of the internet and social media. The general meeting has approved the name change.
Butterfly from cocoon
The design of the new logo has also been carefully considered. You see a butterfly emerge from its cocoon and walk towards freedom as a beautiful appearance. This symbolizes people with vitiligo, who learn to deal with their skin condition, try to accept it and feel free again. "We hope that our members, in all kinds of different phases of processing, can recognize themselves in this logo," said chairman Paul Monteiro. Vitiligo.nl wants to be the point of contact and platform for people who need information about vitiligo, and also be the connecting factor between members, so that they can exchange experiences with fellow sufferers. Member contact remains an important pillar of the organization.
New board members
Several new board members were appointed at the general meeting of February 10. Chairman Paul Monteiro was resigning, but has made himself available again for a period of 4 years. Over the past year, board members Annelies Goedbloed, Julliette Sentis and Astrid Leroy left. Newly appointed are Jeannette Riethorst, Onno Hafkamp and Raymond de Bruin. Treasurer Ed Halmans will remain in office and will resign in 2020. There are still two vacancies on the board. A communications board member and a volunteer coordinator are needed. Are you interested in joining the board or would you like to know more about the tasks and possibilities? Please contact Paul Monteiro via redactie@vitiligo.nl.
