Extra: camouflage tips from members
The first issue of the Spotlight! is out, including an extensive article about camouflage and tips from members. Here is additional information about the tips given.
The article in the Spotlight starts with an interview with skin therapist Sylvia Bos from Amsterdam about the options available today to camouflage vitiligo spots. "That can be done much more simply than before," she says. You can get personal advice from a skin therapist about the right camouflage products and colors and many supplementary health insurance policies reimburse such a consultation. You can check this in your policy.
But many LVVP members try and experiment with regular products from the drugstore. This also applies to the three members who talk about their favorite make-up and self-tanners in the same issue.
Additional tips
They are Annette Verhoeven, Antoinette Slagboom and Gonnie van Herwijnen, who are so happy with the products they have discovered that they would like to pass this on to fellow sufferers. In addition to the information in the magazine, they provide some additional tips here.
Let's start with this: a self-tanner is a product that is absorbed into the skin. You don't wash it off, it slowly wears away. Makeup is a camouflage cream that you have to reapply every day. What you choose is very personal. In all cases, you sometimes have to search for the right color.
Annette about Sundance self-tanner
'The Sundance product gives a brown color to the white parts of my skin after it has been absorbed. I use the 'transparent self-bringing spray' as a base on hands and feet. Spray lightly a few times and let dry. After an hour it starts to color and then you can repeat it. This is how you color the skin in steps. It no longer stains when dry. I use the 'selbstbräunungscreme' for the face and the rest of the body. This also absorbs and gives an even color.'
'Sundance does not have such a strange smell as many other, often more expensive brands. The self-tanner can be purchased at the DM drugstore in Germany and only costs three euros," says Annette. She always buys a supply when she is in Germany. If you want to know more about it, you can email her at surquinverhoeven@outlook.com.
Annette is also very satisfied with the CC Foundation from Hema (10 euros) and with Oxygenetics. The latter is a new camouflage cream that is very expensive (65 euros for 15 milliliters), but some additional health insurance policies reimburse camouflage products if prescribed by a skin therapist. Ask your health insurer.
Gonnie about self-tan spray Marc Inbane
Gonnie van Herwijnen talks in the Spotlight about Marc Inbane's natural tanning spray, a self-tanning product that she saw in Roy Donders' TV program. “This really works,” she says. She only applies it to the white parts of her hands, and then gets a nice, even result that lasts for at least three days. "Despite my work in cleaning with aggressive substances," she adds. Below she provides some tips for correct use to achieve the beautiful result on the hands, as shown in the photo in the Spotlight.
'Shake the spray, spray a small amount on the sink or a plate from close range. (later I rinse the moisture from the sink with water). I absorb some moisture with a cotton ball. If I don't have enough, I spray some more on the sink. This way I don't waste much fluid.
1. Gently dab/rub the phalanges. It discolors immediately. Skip the finger joints for a moment, otherwise the wrinkles will absorb too much color. I use the drier remainder of the cotton wool to go over the joints a little later until they get the same color as the phalanges. If it is not yet dark enough, repeat this step.
2. You can color small white spots on your body with the liquid using a cotton swab.
Is also very suitable for large places. You simply have to spray it from the bottle onto your body and dab it with the glove that comes with the spray. Be careful around the edges, dab/mix the color with a cotton ball with your own skin discoloration, then you will get the best result.'
Antoinette about her foundation:
Antoinette is happy with her Pupa Foundation, which is available at drugstores, hairdressers and beauticians. Costs around 25 euros. 'I combine it with a concealer from Make-Up Studio. This provides a base layer so that the foundation holds better. Despite those two layers, the effect is natural. The concealer is also affordable, it can be ordered online for about 10 euros.

Dear Sir/Madam, My husband has had vitiligo for many years and it suddenly came one summer. He is always very itchy, especially his forearms and shins, and he scratches them until they bleed. He has tried everything, including via the SNIP, but without success. But in the autumn of 2014, he was diagnosed with muscular rheumatism, for which he is now taking prednisone and it turns out that since he started taking prednisone, his itching has disappeared and life has become a lot more relaxing for him. I just want to share this with you.
I don't want to say that prednisone is a nice medication, I understand it well, but still
