FaceIT nominated for Youth Aid Awards
The online utility FaceIT for youth has been nominated for the Youth Aid Awards.
The program FaceIT was set up to help young people with a visible (skin) condition. They learn - right at home - skills to cope with difficult social situations and work on a more positive self-image. This makes it very suitable for young people who become insecure about their vitiligo spots.
Recognition
The nomination for the Youth Aid Awards is great recognition.
Important, because that is possible FaceIT win a public prize of 7,500 euros. With this money the project can be extended and offered to more young people. The National Youth Aid Awards are awarded once every two years to promising initiatives within youth care. The jury prize is no less than 12,000 euros.
It functions!
The program FaceIT for young people was developed by the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital in Rotterdam and its effectiveness is still being scientifically investigated. The first results are very positive: it works! It makes young people stronger. For example, there was recently one on RTL News report about 13-year-old Fleur who participated in FaceIT for young people. She has lost her insecurity and now says: 'Let them watch. I don't care anymore." Fleur was born with a cleft palate and it shows.
