Bear feels insecure because he has spots in his beautiful brown fur. He thinks they stand out and that makes him sad. That's why Bear asks other animals for advice. But Zebra knows more about stripes and Leopard doesn't really care, he has a million of them! Toekan also does not see Bear's spots, although he understands how Bear feels. A Bear with Spots is a sweet, cheerful picture book about (self)acceptance, which shows that everyone is just the way he or she is. The book follows the purple book A bear…. with Stains on, from 2010. In collaboration with publisher Ploegsma, Monique Bodegom (editor of the membership magazine Spotlight!) and illustrator Natascha Stenvert created this new edition.
