Spotlight! #1 (March 2025)
The members of Vitiligo.nl receive the Spotlight! This issue includes:
Making the correct diagnosis for white spots on the skin is not always easy. It does not always have to be vitiligo, says José van der Waa in the March issue of Spotlight! She is a dermatologist in training at the Amsterdam UMC.
Another physician interviewed by the editors is Reinhart Speeckaert of the University Hospital in Ghent. He addressed the question of whether nutrition and supplements can slow down vitiligo or stimulate the return of pigment.
Of course, we also let people who have vitiligo themselves have their say. Take Hetty (53) from Friesland, who takes in thousands of animals in her animal shelter every year. Or Teddy Kühne (28): she tells us what it means for her as a young person to have vitiligo. And we could think of school principal Patricia (58). For her, having this skin condition means a struggle between acceptance and feelings. “Why is it so hard for me to accept myself, while I tell others 'you are fine the way you are'?”
